Undoubtedly the largest outdoor market in Mauritius, the Flacq Market offers a large variety of goods for willing buyers. For a visit with all the stalls operating, you can choose to visit on Wednesdays or Sundays.

The visit kicks off with the textile section where you will find fabrics of all colours and patterns. You will also find stalls with ready made garments as well. Colourful sarees, sparkling lehengas or comfy sweatpants are all available within meters of each other. Next section is for fruits and vegetables, where you will experience a feast for the eyes with the colourful placements of the vegetables and also amusement from the vendors with their unique slogans.

The last section of the Market consist mostly of souvenirs and local handicrafts. You will find here a large selection of souvenirs, jewelleries, handbags, baskets. There are a couple of stalls with several African themed tops and dresses hanging from the roof of the stalls, so heads up! On the far left of this section, the street food is available. Piping hot samousas (fritters filled with potatoes and peas) , freshly cooked gato arouille (Taro Root fritters) or some refreshing coconut water, you just have to make your choice and enjoy.
