About the Full Day Tour in the North of Mauritius
Spend a full day exploring the north of Mauritius through a mix of nature, culture and local life. This private tour brings together several key stops in one itinerary, allowing you to move easily from one experience to the next.
From historic gardens and a certified cultural site to the capital’s lively streets and a relaxed lunch setting, the day offers a varied and well-paced way to discover the island without having to plan each detail yourself.
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden
One of the oldest botanical gardens in the southern hemisphere, dating back to the 18th century.
Located in Pamplemousses, the garden covers a large area and brings together more than 650 plant species collected over time from different parts of the world. Wide paths, shaded areas and open lawns make it easy to explore at a nice pace.
Among its highlights are the giant water lilies, spice trees and a remarkable collection of over 80 varieties of palm trees. Many of these were introduced during the colonial period, giving the garden both botanical and historical importance.
L’Aventure du Sucre & Le Fangourin
Mauritius wouldn’t be the same without its sweet secret: sugar! Here's your chance to visit L'Aventure du Sucre, a 19th-century sugar mill rising above sugar cane fields.
L’Aventure du Sucre has been awarded the Made in Moris and Blue Oasis labels, recognising its commitment to authentic and responsible tourism. You’ll explore a 5,000 m² path and 10 interactive zones packed with history, flavour and enormous machinery. Videos and short films will also bring the chronicles of sugar to life.
The tour ends at The Village Boutik, a 100% Mauritian brand featuring local sugars and high-quality rums from Maison New Grove—crafted by the island’s oldest distillery (200 years old). Don’t miss out on the tasting session while you're there!
Port Louis - The Capital of Mauritius
A lively mix of history, commerce and everyday life.
Port Louis brings a different rhythm to the day. Around Caudan Waterfront, the setting is modern and open, with shops and cafés overlooking the harbour. Not far from there, the Central Market and Craft Market offer a more local atmosphere, with stalls filled with spices, textiles and handmade goods.
Moving through the city, colonial buildings line Place d’Armes, while Fort Adelaide (La Citadelle), built in the 1830s, stands above the capital. From this vantage point, wide views open across the harbour, the city and the surrounding mountains.
The Mauritius Postal Museum
A short stop that adds another layer to the island’s history.
Located in a historic building in Port Louis, the museum traces the development of communication in Mauritius, from early message systems to organised postal services. It remains a simple but informative addition to the overall experience.
- The starting site for the day's itinerary depends on your place of accommodation, and the driver will brief you accordingly on the day of the trip.
- As this is a private trip, we can adjust the tour times to suit your preferences, within certain limits. Please note that the route is fixed, and pick-up and drop-off must be at the same hotel.
