About the Sunrise or Sunset Hike at Le Pouce
Looking for a hike that stands out from the usual daytime trails? This guided experience at Le Pouce Mountain lets you choose between a sunrise or sunset hike, offering a quieter and more refreshing way to explore one of Mauritius’ most iconic peaks.
The hike starts at the foot of the mountain in the Moka district. You’ll meet your guides, get a short safety briefing and then begin the climb. The trail takes you through forest paths and natural terrain, easing you into the hike and gradually pulling you away from the noise and pace of everyday life.
As you climb higher, the views begin to open up over Port Louis, the Moka Range, and the surrounding landscape. There’s a short rocky section near the top that adds a bit of challenge, and once you reach the summit, you’re rewarded with a 360-degree view that makes the effort feel completely worth it.
At sunrise, the hike feels quiet and focused, with the island slowly waking up beneath you as the light returns. At sunset, the pace feels more relaxed, with softer light and that familiar end-of-day feeling that makes the climb feel calmer and more reflective. Since the hike happens early in the morning or as daylight fades, you’ll need a personal torchlight or headlamp for part of the route.
Whether you hike early in the morning or as the day comes to an end, this experience leaves you with that satisfying sense of having truly earned the view.
